DUPLEX DREAMS (2014)

Duplex Dreams
follows the daily life of a group of self-described ‘rednecks' in the American mid-west. Showing pride in their identity and a strong desire to respect their heritage, they celebrate figures such as Robert E. Lee, the confederate general. Despite close ties to the land, their desire for independence now exists within the bounds of suburbia, as the cost of land ownership is prohibitive. This new proximity to urban centres and progressive ideologies can be challenging and tensions sometimes arise. The group wear T-shirts emblazoned with their motto ‘support your local white boy’ as a way of asserting themselves in the contested territory of suburbia.
