Crystal Love's MATING SEASONS Wall Calendar
Crystal Love's MATING SEASONS Wall Calendar
A limited edition wall calendar by Aunty Crystal Love and Liss Fenwick
Crystal Love's MATING SEASONS is a 13-page A3 flip wall calendar that tracks the year by the moon and by animal mating seasons.
Each page features a photograph of Aunty Crystal Love, Tiwi-Warlpiri drag performer and pioneering Sistagirl, placed in the environment of an animal in its mating season. Each season is named with the Tiwi language word for an animal that's mating that month. Alongside the days of the month you'll find the moon cycles, so you can keep track of dates and the bigger rhythms of the natural world.
Created by artist Liss Fenwick, designed by Quiggi.design, and wire bound for easy hanging. Limited to 200 copies.
All profits go to Aunty Crystal's Yangamini Collective, a guerrilla collective of trans and non-binary First Nations and allied communities strengthening gender-fluid bush knowledge in the Northern Territory.
Flat rate $15 postage across Australia. Sent in a recyclable padded paper mailer.

Origin Story
Aunty Crystal asked me to photograph her. I'm not usually a portrait photographer, but I sorted some studio lights, "borrowed" a few more from Bunnings, and in July 2026, with help from Crystal's carer, fellow drag queen and make-up artist, [NAME], we got to work. Crystal's a legendary model, so it was easy.
At the end of the photoshoots Crystal wanted a photo of the two of us. I was six months pregnant, so it turned into a maternity shoot. Over a chat with our friend Jens "Jonita" Cheung, we got onto mating seasons and the different ways of reckoning time outside the Gregorian calendar used in European culture. I'd been thinking about the moon, and about how my pregnancy felt very animal-like, sitting outside the orderly time of the modern world. That's how Crystal Love's MATING SEASONS was born.
